The Rooted Experience
If you’re considering electrolysis for permanent hair removal, welcome! At Rooted Electrolysis, I’m all about making the process smooth (literally) and ensuring you feel comfortable every step of the way. Whether it’s your first time or you’re continuing treatments, here’s what you can expect when booking with me.
Easy Online Booking
I know you’re busy, so I’ve made scheduling simple. You can book your session online at your convenience—no back-and-forth text messages or emails, just a few clicks and you’re set. What’s shown online is what’s available. I am generally booked out 2-3 weeks. I don’t experience many cancellations, but if you’re lucky, a last-minute appointment may be available.
Your First Appointment: The Consultation
All new clients require a consultation regardless of their experience with electrolysis. At this appointment, we’ll discuss your hair removal goals, how electrolysis works, and what to expect during and after treatment. This is your time to ask questions and get all the details before we get started, but NOT this question... I am always asked, “hOw MaNy SeSsIoNs WiLl I nEeD?” Listen, I don’t know. Lol. Seriously, I don’t. The time is based on many factors. I like to tell clients to trust the process because it is a slow and steady race. Be prepared to be my bestie for a year MINIMUM!
During Your Session
Electrolysis is performed using a tiny probe (about the size of your hair) to target and permanently destroy hair follicles. Sessions can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the area being treated. The current from the machine may feel like a slight stinging sensation, but most clients find it manageable.
I want your treatment to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Many clients use this time to unwind, listen to music or podcast, or even take a quick nap. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we don’t. The client sets the tone.
Post-Treatment Care
After your session, you might notice some redness or slight swelling—this is totally normal and usually subsides within a few hours. Proper aftercare helps soothe your skin and promotes healing while preventing irritation or breakouts. Here are a few tips:
Keep the Area Clean - Gentle cleanse with a mild, gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing or exfoliating for at least 48 hours.
Soothe & Hydrate - Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer like Aquaphor or a soothing gel like aloe vera to calm the skin. Witch hazel is also great for reducing inflammation.
Protect Your Skin - if treated areas are exposed to sunlight, apply a SPF 30 or higher sunscreen to prevent hyperpigmentation.
Stay Hydrated - Drinking plenty of water helps your skin recover faster.
Avoid products with alcohol, fragrances, retinoids, glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide for at least 48 hours, as they can be too harsh on healing skin.
Let your skin breathe for at least 24 hours before applying makeup or scented lotions to treated areas.
Consistency is Key
Since hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are needed for full results. I’ll help you determine a plan that fits your schedule, budget and hair removal goals. Again, it is a process.
