Celebrating Diversity in Electrolysis: Your Safe Space with Rooted Electrolysis!

The Bay Area is one of the most diverse places in the country, and you can see that diversity throughout the beauty industry. Hair stylists, estheticians, makeup artists, nail techs…we have professionals from just about every background.

Electrolysis? Not so much.

When I started looking into becoming an electrologist, one of the things that stood out to me was the lack of Black representation in the industry. I could find very few electrologists who looked like me, particularly here in the Bay Area.

And while you absolutely don't have to look like your clients to provide great care, representation still matters.

Unwanted hair can be an incredibly personal and sensitive subject. For some people, it's connected to hormones or medical conditions. For others, it's part of their gender-affirming care. And sometimes, it's simply something that has affected the way they feel when they look in the mirror.

Whatever brings you through the door, I want you to feel comfortable talking about it.

That's a big part of why I created Rooted.

Rooted Electrolysis is a space where you don't have to feel embarrassed about your facial hair, explain why you've been tweezing every day for years, apologize for hyperpigmentation, or feel like you need to make yourself smaller or different to be comfortable in the room.

My goal isn't to only serve people who look like me. Rooted is for everyone. But I also understand that sometimes there's an added level of comfort in receiving care from someone who may better understand your experiences, your skin, your hair, or simply where you're coming from.

I'm proud to bring more representation to an industry where there still isn't much of it—and even more proud to create the kind of space I'd want to walk into as a client myself.

That's what Rooted is about.
